• DAY 286: Hijr 78-99

   And the people of Aikah were (also) wrongdoers. so We inflicted punishment upon them. The ruins of both nations still lie on a well-known road. Indeed, the residents of the Stone Valley also denied the messengers. We gave them Our signs, but they turned away from them. They carved their homes in the mountains, feeling secure. But the ˹mighty˺ blast overtook them in the morning, and all they achieved was of no help to them. We have not created the heavens and the earth and everything in between except for a purpose. And the Hour is certain to come, so forgive graciously. Surely, your Lord is the Creator of all, the All-Knowing. We have certainly granted you the seven often-repeated verses and the great Quran. Do not let your eyes crave the ˹fleeting˺ pleasures We have provided for some of the disbelievers, nor grieve for them. And be gracious to the believers. And say, “I am truly sent with a clear warning”— ˹a warning˺ similar to what We sent to those who divided ˹the Scriptures˺, who ˹now˺ accept parts of the Quran, rejecting others. So by your Lord! We will certainly question them all about what they used to do. So proclaim what you have been commanded, and turn away from the polytheists. Surely We will be sufficient for you against the mockers, who set up ˹other˺ gods with Allah. They will soon come to know. We certainly know that your heart is truly distressed by what they say. So glorify the praises of your Lord and be one of those who ˹always˺ pray, and worship your Lord until the inevitable comes your way.

  The root of all denial is spiritual arrogance (kibr), a poison first injected into creation by Iblis, who now dedicates his existence to making humanity share in his own damnation.
  Confronting this, Allah reveals His two fundamental attributes: He is Al-Ghafur, Ar-Raheem (The All-Forgiving, The Most Merciful), keeping the door of repentance open until the last moment, but His punishment is also the painful punishment, severe, dense, and inescapable for those who persist.
  This divine duality is illustrated through history: the impossible mercy for a righteous servant like Ibrahim (AS) stands in stark contrast to the total annihilation of arrogant civilizations like Lut's and Thamud's.
  Therefore, the believer's mission is clear:
      Hold firmly to the guidance.
      Convey the message openly.
      Ignore the mockers and turn away from polytheism.
      Find solace and strength not in confrontation, but in devoted worship—praising and prostrating to Allah until the certainty of death arrives.
  
  This is the complete path: understanding the enemy (arrogance), trusting in the Lord (His Mercy and Justice), learning from history, and fulfilling one's purpose through unwavering worship. 
      The Pattern of Destruction: Past nations were destroyed for the same arrogance and denial displayed by the Quraysh.
      Consolation and Instruction for the Prophet: He is told to overlook insults, avoid longing for their worldly status, not grieve over their rejection, and instead be gentle with the believers.
      Public Proclamation: The command to preach openly and leave the outcome to Allah.
      The Ultimate Remedy: When faced with distress, the answer is to turn to Allah in praise, prayer, and persistent worship until death. The surah begins with Allah's power and ends with the believer's devoted response.
      
      Allah commands the Prophet to publicly proclaim the truth, to turn away from the arrogant mockers with the assurance that He is sufficient protection, and to find solace not in worldly power but in devoted worship until death, just as the ruined civilizations before them were destroyed for the same arrogance.
