DAY 55: Asr 1-3
(I swear) By the time! Surely humanity is in ˹grave˺ loss, except those who believe and do good, righteous deeds, and advise one an-
other to truth, and advise one another to steadfast patience.
(
Believe (آمَنُوا): Have faith in Allah and His guidance.
Do righteous deeds (عَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ): Act in accordance with their faith by performing good actions.
Advise each other to truth (تَوَاصَوْا بِالْحَقِّ): Encourage one another to uphold truth, justice, and righteousness.
Advise each other to patience (تَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ): Support one another in remaining steadfast, especially in the face of trials and challenges.
The root ص-ل-ح (ṣ-l-ḥ) and the word الصَّالِحَاتِ (as-salihat) go beyond the simple idea of "good" in a generic sense. They carry a deeper meaning of reforming, improving, setting things right, or making something better. This concept is dynamic and action-oriented, implying effort and intentionality to bring about positive change.
Four Pillars of Success: The surah outlines four essential qualities for salvation:
Faith: Belief in Allah and His guidance.
Righteous Actions: Deeds that align with faith and benefit oneself and others.
Encouraging Truth: Promoting justice, honesty, and moral uprightness in society.
Patience: Perseverance in the face of difficulties and adherence to truth despite challenges.
