DAY 366: Dhariyat 47-60
We built the universe with ˹great˺ might, and We are certainly expanding ˹it˺. As for the earth, We spread it out. How superbly did We smooth it out! And We created pairs of all things so perhaps you would be mindful. So ˹proclaim, O Prophet˺: “Flee to Allah! I am truly sent by Him with a clear warning to you. And do not set up another god with Allah. I am truly sent by Him with a clear warning to you.” Similarly, no messenger came to those before them without being told: “A magician or a madman!” Have they passed this ˹cliché˺ down to one another? In fact, they have ˹all˺ been a transgressing people. So, turn away from them, for you are not blamed. But ˹continue to˺ remind. For certainly reminders benefit the believers. I did not create jinn and humans except to worship Me. I seek no provision from them, nor do I need them to feed Me. Indeed, Allah ˹alone˺ is the Supreme Provider—Lord of all Power, Ever Mighty. So, those who did wrong will have their turn like the turn of their counterparts. So, they should not ask Me to hasten on. Woe then to the disbelievers when they face their Day which they are warned of!
(
From Cosmos to Creator: It begins with cosmic expansion (v.47) and ends with the promised Hour (v.60), framing all of reality within God's power and plan.
Clarifying the Relationship: It corrects a primal human error: that God needs our worship. Instead, it states worship is our innate purpose and need, while He is the independent Provider.
Prophetic Methodology: It provides the Prophet (and all callers to truth) with a balanced approach: turn away from obstinate mockers without guilt, and steadfastly remind those who will benefit.
Inevitable Justice: It seals the argument: the deniers, repeating the errors of the past, will inherit the same fate. The warning has been delivered with cosmic evidence and historical precedent. The choice—and the consequence—is now theirs.
The concluding verses of Surah Adh-Dhariyat establish that the entire cosmos—from its expansion to its paired creation—is a sign pointing to the One, Self-Sufficient God, declaring that humanity's sole purpose is to worship Him alone, a truth which the obstinate deniers reject at their own peril, thereby inheriting the doom of the nations before them.
