  • DAY 436: Naba 17-30

Indeed, the Day of ˹Final˺ Decision is an appointed time— ˹it is˺ the Day the Trumpet will be blown, and you will ˹all˺ come forth in crowds. The sky will be ˹split˺ open, becoming ˹many˺ gates, and the mountains will be blown away, becoming ˹like˺ a mirage. Indeed, Hell is lying in ambush as a home for the transgressors, where they will remain for ˹endless˺ ages. There they will not taste any coolness or drink, except boiling water and ˹oozing˺ pus— a fitting reward. For they never expected any reckoning, and totally rejected Our signs. And We have everything recorded precisely. ˹So the deniers will be told,˺ “Taste ˹the punishment˺, for all you will get from Us is more torment.”

Having established in the first part of the surah (verses 1-16) that the Creator of this magnificent universe is certainly capable of resurrection, the focus now shifts to the event itself. Verses 17-30 describe the onset of the Day of Decision and the specific fate awaiting the transgressors who denied it. The tone shifts from gentle, logical persuasion to stark, terrifying warning.

The Event: The Day of Decision is a cosmic cataclysm that unmakes the world.
The Punishment: For those who denied the "Great News," the result is a perfectly fitting, eternal torment in a Hell that was waiting specifically for them.
        The Justice:
This punishment is not arbitrary. It is the direct and logical outcome of their own choices: a life lived without expectation of accountability, marked by the arrogant denial of God's clear signs, all of which were meticulously recorded.

Because they lived without any expectation of accountability and actively denied God's signs, the transgressors will face the perfectly appropriate and eternal consequence of their actions: a torment that offers no relief, only increasing intensity.
