DAY 437: Naba 31-40
- Indeed, the righteous will have
salvation— Gardens, vineyards, nd elevated companions, peers [in
purity], and full cups ˹of pure wine˺, never to hear any idle talk or
lying therein— a ˹fitting˺ reward as a generous gift from your Lord, the
Lord of the heavens and the earth and everything in between, the Most
Compassionate. No one will dare speak to Him on the Day the ˹holy˺
spirit and the
angels will stand in ranks. None will talk, except those granted
permission by the Most Compassionate and whose words are true. That Day
is the ˹ultimate˺ truth. So let whoever wills take the path leading back
to their Lord. Indeed, We have warned you of an imminent punishment—the
Day every
person will see ˹the consequences of˺ what their hands have done, and
the disbelievers will cry, “I wish I were dust.”

After detailing the terrifying fate awaiting the transgressors who denied the "Great News," the surah now shifts its focus to the other side of the Day of Decision. Verses 31-37 describe the blissful reward of the righteous, followed by a final, sobering warning in verses 38-40 about the overwhelming reality of that Day and the urgent call to prepare for it.
The Reward: The righteous achieve the ultimate success (mafāz)—gardens, pure companionship, and a generous gift from the Most Merciful, all in an environment of perfect peace and truth.
The Majesty: The Day of Decision is presented in its full gravity, where even the mightiest angels stand in silent awe before God, and no one speaks except by His permission.
The Choice: Humanity is given a final, clear invitation: the path of return to God is open for those who will it.
The Warning: The surah ends with its most sobering note. The punishment is near, and the regret of the disbeliever on that Day will be so absolute that he will long for the oblivion of dust—a wish that will not be granted.
For the righteous, the ultimate attainment is a garden of bliss where they are elevated to the highest station among pure and perfectly matched companions, while on that True Day, the disbeliever—confronted with the full weight of his deeds—will be left with nothing but the wish that he had never existed.
