• DAY 514: Ali 'Imran 121-136

  •  ˹Remember, O  Prophet,˺ when you left your home in the early morning to position the believers in the battlefield. And Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. ˹Remember˺ when two groups among you ˹believers˺ were about to cower, then Allah reassured them. So in Allah let the believers put their trust. Indeed, Allah made you victorious at Badr when you were ˹vastly˺ outnumbered. So be mindful of Allah, perhaps you will be grateful. ˹Remember, O  Prophet,˺ when you said to the believers, “Is it not enough that your Lord will send down a reinforcement of three thousand angels for your aid?” Most certainly, if you ˹believers˺ are firm and mindful ˹of Allah˺ and the enemy launches a sudden attack on you, Allah will reinforce you with five thousand angels designated ˹for battle˺. Allah ordained this ˹reinforcement˺ only as good news for you and reassurance for your hearts. And victory comes only from Allah—the Almighty, All-Wise— to destroy a group of the disbelievers and humble the rest, causing them to withdraw in disappointment. You ˹O Prophet˺ have no say in the matter. It is up to Allah to turn to them in mercy or punish them, for indeed they are wrongdoers. To Allah ˹alone˺ belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. He forgives whoever He wills, and punishes whoever He wills. And Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful. O believers! Do not consume interest, multiplying it many times over. And be mindful of Allah, so you may prosper. Guard yourselves against the Fire prepared for the disbelievers. Obey Allah and the Messenger, so you may be shown mercy. And hasten towards forgiveness from your Lord and a Paradise as vast as the heavens and the earth, prepared for those mindful ˹of Allah˺. ˹They are˺ those who donate in prosperity and adversity, control their anger, and pardon others. And Allah loves the good-doers. ˹They are˺ those who, upon committing an evil deed or wronging themselves, remember Allah and seek forgiveness for their sins—and who forgives sins except Allah?—and they do not knowingly persist in wrongdoing? Their reward is forgiveness from their Lord and Gardens under which rivers flow, staying there forever. How excellent is the reward for those who work ˹righteousness˺!

    The previous section defined the community's identity and taught strategic patience. Now the Quran takes that community into the fire of Uhud, exposes their near-collapse, reminds them of God's past help, sets conditions for future victory, purifies their economy and character, and opens the door of forgiveness wide—because battle is not just fought with swords, but with the soul's ability to repent, forgive, and race back to God.
    Verses 121-122: The Morning of Battle and Near Collapse
    The Prophet positions believers at Uhud in the early morning. Two factions nearly lost heart and wanted to flee, but God was their protector. Let believers rely on Him alone.
    Verses 123-125: Remember Badr—The Promise of Angelic Aid
    Recall Badr where God gave you victory when you were weak. He promised three thousand angels, and if you stay patient and God-conscious, five thousand marked angels will reinforce you even against their fury.
    Verses 126-129: The Purpose of Victory and the Prophet's Role
    Angelic aid was only to reassure your hearts—victory comes from God alone. The Prophet's job is not to decide their fate; God forgives or punishes as He wills. Everything in existence belongs to Him.
    Verses 130-132: The Economic and Spiritual Foundations
    Don't devour compounded usury. Fear God to succeed, fear the Fire prepared for disbelievers, and obey God and the Messenger to receive mercy.
    Verses 133-134: The Race to Forgiveness and Paradise
    Race toward God's forgiveness and a Paradise vast as the heavens and earth, prepared for the God-conscious—those who give in ease and hardship, swallow anger, and pardon people. God loves the doers of good.
    Verses 135-136: The Door for the Sinner
    When they commit indecency or wrong themselves, they remember God, seek forgiveness—who forgives sins but God?—and don't persist knowingly. Their reward is eternal gardens. Excellent is the reward of the workers.
    
    Even when some hearts nearly falter at Uhud, remember Badr—victory comes from God alone for those who stay patient and God-conscious, so purify your economy from usury, race toward a Paradise vast as the heavens by giving in all conditions, swallowing anger, and pardoning others, and if you fall into sin, turn back immediately, for no one forgives sins but God, and He loves those who do good.
