• DAY 553: Nisa 92-94

  •  It is not lawful for a believer to kill another except by mistake. And whoever kills a believer unintentionally must free a believing slave and pay blood-money to the victim’s family—unless they waive it charitably. But if the victim is a believer from a hostile people, then a believing slave must be freed. And if the victim is from a people bound with you in a treaty, then blood-money must be paid to the family along with freeing a believing slave. Those who are unable, let them fast two consecutive months—as a means of repentance to Allah. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise. And whoever kills a believer intentionally, their reward will be Hell—where they will stay forever. Allah will be displeased with them, condemn them, and will prepare for them a tremendous punishment. O believers! When you struggle in the cause of Allah, be sure of who you fight. And do not say to those who offer you ˹greetings of˺ peace, “You are no believer!”—seeking a fleeting worldly gain. Instead, Allah has infinite bounties ˹in store˺. You were initially like them then Allah blessed you ˹with Islam˺. So be sure! Indeed, Allah is All-Aware of what you do.

        The unintentional killing of a believer—and the expiation required
        The distinction between unintentional and intentional killing
        The prohibition against jumping to conclusions and accusing innocent people.
     Do not let tribalism, greed, or anger make you a transgressor. Whether it is a wife at home, an orphan in your care, or an enemy on the battlefield—JUSTICE and VERIFICATION rule over everything.
    --Fix your home (marriage, orphans, inheritance).
    --Fix your community (neighbors, justice, obedience to good leaders).
    --Expose the hypocrites (because they ruin everything from the inside).
    --Face the external enemy with courage, because death is inevitable anyway.
    --But even in war—never lose your humanity. Verify, investigate, and never kill someone who offers peace.
    92    Accidental killing requires: freeing a believing slave + compensation to the family (unless forgiven); if you can't afford it, fast two consecutive months    Accidents still require accountability and expiation—justice with mercy
    93    Intentional killing of a believer: eternal Hellfire, divine anger, curse, and severe punishment    Murder is one of the most severe sins—but sincere repentance is possible
    94    When going to war, investigate carefully; don't accuse someone of faking faith just to get spoils; remember you were once in their position    Verify before acting—don't let greed corrupt your judgment; humility matters
    
    Human life is sacred—even accidental killing requires serious expiation, while intentional murder carries severe punishment; and in times of conflict, never jump to conclusions or accuse someone falsely for worldly gain, because God sees everything and knows what's in every heart.
